Adnabyddiaeth

1. Dylid gallu gwahaniaethu rhwng bot a bodau dynol. Dylai'r enw ddangos mai bot yw'r defnyddiwr. Argymhellir enw sy'n dilyn y patrwm "[defnyddiwr cyffredin]Bot".
2. Dylai fod gan y bot ei dudalen defnyddiwr ei hun. Dylai'r dudalen honno ddangos pwy yw'r gweithredwr, pwrpas y bot a nodi a oes baner bot ganddo.
3. Dylid rhestru pob bot yn Categori:Botiaid cyn dechrau ei redeg. Cant eu rhestru ar y dudalen hon hefyd.

Cyfathrebu

1. Rhaid gallu cysylltu a gweithredwr y bot. Rhaid fod gan cyfrif y bot gyfeiriad ebost gwiriadwy sy'n galluogi unrhyw un i gysylltu a'r gweithredwr. Yn ogystal a hyn, argymhellwch yn gryf fod gan gweithredwr y bot ei ddefnyddiwr ei hun, lle gellir cysylltu a hwy. Opsiwn arall, er na argymhellir hyn i'r fath raddau, yw cyfeirio at dudalen y gweithredwr mewn rhyw brosiect Wikimedia arall.
2. Rhaid i weithredwr y bot fedru'r Saesneg. Am mai'r unig iaith y mae gweinyddwyr en.wikiquote yn sicr o ddeall yw Saesneg, mae'n hanfodol eu bod yn medru cysylltu a'r gweithredwr yn Saesneg.

Ceisiadau am faner bot

Rhoddir baner bot gan fiwrocrat lleol os oes consensws o fewn y gymuned. Er mwyn gwneud cais am faner bot, sicrhewch fod eich bot yn cydymffurfio a'r polisi uchod, ac yna ychwanegwch pennawd gyda'i enw. O dan y pennawd, darparwch grynodeb byr o bwrpas y bot. Gan amlaf bydd y drafodaeth yn para am bythefnos, ond gall gweinyddwr neu fiwrocrat leihau neu ymestyn hyn.

Os ydynt yn cael eu derbyn neu eu gwrthod, gellir dod o hyd iddynt yn archifau.

MerlLinkBot

I request bot flag to my bot

• Operator: w:de:User:Merlissimo
• Purpose: changes external links which are outdated and can be successfully replaced by a new one.
• Script used : java (own framework)
• Already has the bot flag on : 40+ WPs (including all majors), commons, some other projects (books, news) (see all flags)
• Function Details

  The bot replaces urls that have to be changed. This can be only a domain change or a more complex page structure change on a website. Links are dectected with the help of the api (and not with regex) and are only replaced if the webserver of the new url returns a 200-status-response for that new resource. “Link text” is not changed. (own framework written in java - used by all of my bots)

• Note : On some other non wp-projects the community decided to approve the bot task but let it unflagged. Perhaps you should discuss that point here, too.
